The Upper Austrian State Fire Brigade Association is a public-law corporation and includes all fire brigades and fire brigade members in the state. The State Association sees itself as a representative body for the individual fire brigades and is essentially responsible for the following tasks:

Organization of the fire brigades in Upper Austria
Training of fire brigade members
Ensuring operational readiness
Organization of disaster protection
Providing information on fire prevention
Cooperation with national and international fire brigade organizations
